Bringing Quality to Power

The Vecto II is a third generation power quality recorder with permanent GPS and PTP time synchronisation:
• Power Quality Measurement - IEC 61000-4-30 Ed 3.0 (Class-A)
• Harmonic & Inter-harmonics - IEC 61000-4-7 (Class-I)
• Flicker Meter - IEC 61000-4-15 (Class-F1)
• SCADA Protocol - Modbus over IP (and IEC 61850 as extra)
• Synchrophasor Recorder

The Vecto II has 4 x voltage, 4 x current sensor and 4 x powered current transducer inputs. It features an on-board GPS,
2 x Gigabit Ethernet ports and a USB2.0 (HS) expansion port. Communication is secured with encryption.

Xross-Trigger® and Snapshot® Mechanisms

The Xross-Trigger® event synchronisation mechanism enables the recording of a Snapshot® of perfectly time
synchronised data from a group of remotely installed instruments. Each instrument maintains a large buffer of raw GPS
time synchronised voltage and current data. When triggered one instrument will dispatch a Xross-Trigger® command to
the others via the IP network. Upon receipt of a Xross-Trigger® command, each instrument will retrieve and store the
requested raw historic data on its on-board buffer. Once retrieved the user can analyse and display the Snapshot® of
data.

Enterprise Support
When connected, each instrument automatically establishes a
permanent secure communications link to a corporate server (local
or Internet based). An Instrument Management System (IMS)
keeps track of each instrument’s location, configuration, health
(telemetry) and data.

Data downloading is automated and recorded. It can be accessed

via the Internet in a report format as and when it becomes
available. Raw data can be exported for further analysis.
Specialist analysis tools are available to group events and to classify
and report on data according to industry standards like NRS048,
EN50160 and IEE1158. All communications are encrypted and each
instrument is password protected.

Sampling Rate
The Vecto II samples analog input signals at a rate of
500 kHz with 10-times oversampling. Waveform data
can therefore be captured at a sampling rate of 50kHz.
The user can further configure the subsampling rate to reduce the
stored data size. Subsampled data can be configured from 50kHz
down to 1kHz.

1/6th Sense
The Vecto II calculates 1-cycle sliding window RMS
and fundamental phasor parameters on every zero-
cross of each of the 3 phase voltages to result in a 1/6th
cycle resolution of parameters (6 samples per cycle).
This higher resolution 1-cycle profile data improves the accuracy of
depth/duration calculations and smoother event profiles.

Event Recording
Upper and/or lower thresholds can be defined for waveform,
1/6th sense, 10/12-Cycle block and aggregated parameters. Both
single-phase and multiple-phase trigger criteria can be customised.
The Vecto II retain pre- and post-information of the event with the
extent of this information configurable by the user.

10/12-Cycle Block Recording

The Vecto II calculates voltage and current phasors from the
10/12-cycle block of data (≈200ms block @ 50 Hz) up to the 64th
harmonic. Both amplitude and angle information of each harmonic
is retained and time-stamped with a 1μs time resolution.

The user can average N x blocks to reduce the number of samples.

Averaged block harmonic and unbalance phasors does not contain
angle information.

Clock Synchronised

10/12-Cycle block RMS and
Harmonic parameters are
aggregated according to
IEC61000-4-30 requirements
over a user-defined time
interval such as 3 seconds
and 10 minutes.
Clock synchronised
parameters are time-
stamped with a 1s time
resolution.
