President Rodrigo Duterte primarily focuses on corruption, criminality in the streets and war on
drugs. These are the main advocacies that he wants to address that he finds necessary. He also stated
that there are a lot other problems bigger than the ones stated but we should not ignore it and it has to
be stopped by all means. I like the fact that President Duterte has been true to his words that the
processing time for application of government IDs and other requirements have been lessened. “Erosion
of faith and trust in the government” this is the line that President Duterte stated that struck me the most.
What makes the government very inefficient is because of the lack of trust in the country’s leaders. How
can the government provide good public service if the people doubt their capabilities and have no trust
in them? It is because of the past mistakes that the previous administration has done. It is up to the
President now on how will he gain the people’s heart and support. In his speech his stated that “Malasakit.
Tunay na Pagbabago” These are the words that captivated him to become President. I didn’t liked this
statement because many times I have heard this already. Previous leaders have already mentioned this
but failed to provide the good quality service that the people needed. There are a lot of leaders around
here say a lot of words that put their name into good reputation but they lack actions. I am not saying
that President Duterte isn’t true to his words but he needs to prove his words to be able to gain the
people’s trust.
