D Genius?

Eugenio D. Matalino, also called “Genio”, is a civil engineer born with a silver spoon in
his mouth. Since childhood, he was filled with things that only rich people could afford. He
could have anything he wants, including his personal assistant, housemaid, and driver. Genio,
with what their money can afford, was enrolled in private schools. He has all the access to
internet and is given educational materials. As a result, Genio excels in his studies. He is always
the top in class. When he entered De La Salle University, he chose civil engineering. Like he
always do, he studied hard and became the best civil engineering student from his batch-- a
summa cum laude with a General Weighted Average of almost 1.000. Many companies were
already hiring him even if he was still studying.

After he graduated, he immediately took the board exam and topped his fellow
examinees. He started working in Makati but was offered to work away from the city. For a Php
40,000 monthly salary, he is in charge of the development of a remote area in Davao where
communication and transportation is a dilemma. To get to the site, you need two days and one
night. After 2 weeks on that area, Engineer Genio began to consider resigning.

Reaction: Not resign

Reasons:

1. Genio never experienced a hard life; these sacrifices are just a taste of reality the
residents experience in their everyday life.
2. Obviously, other companies offer higher salary but with Genio born rich, money from
his salary would not affect their wealth.
3. For the sake of development, for the people to experience life more convenient, he
must not resign.
4. Nothing bad will last. His project won’t take forever to be finished.
