translation studies played an important role today.

through translation we are


able to trace out different types of cultural heritage and religious beliefs. if
the text is in one particular language it can be utilised by one particular
community others are unable to utilise the precious values in which the text
contains for example Thirukkural. so, the translation is very essential for us.
when it comes to translating the text from the source language into target
language, it should be impartant the translator must have the knowledge both source
language and target language. the translators might be face these kind of problems
while they are translating any genre like poetry, prose, drama, non fiction and
fictional writings such as lexical and semantic problems, grammatical problems,
syntactic problems, and pragmatic problems.
There are eight types of translation word-for-word translation, literal
translation, faithful translation, semantic translation, adaptive translation, free
translation, idiomatic translation, and communicative translation.
the main aim of this paper is to find out the major challenges in each genre as
well as each method and to suggest some ways in order to rectify these kind of
problems.
