Planning and Curriculum Goals

Submit 4 learning experience plan summaries, each plan will support a different developmental domain
from WMELS. Include the following information in each learning experience plan summary:
*For the remaining domain you will write and implement one full (long) activity plan.

Observation Domain ________________Approaches to Learning_________________

Name and type of learning experience _______________Puppy daycare__________________________

In 3-5 sentences, a description of the teacher’s role during the learning experience and what the
children will be doing.

I will set up an area that has a “Puppy Daycare” sign. I will bring in dog bowls, leashes, puff balls in a
container, labeled “dog food,” put all the puppies we have in little boxes with name labels and a picture
of the specific stuffed animal puppy. This will be set up during free play. My role will be to sit back and
see how they explore the area. What they use certain items for and use their imagination to create what
they want out of it.

In 2-4 sentences, explanation why the learning experience was chosen and how the activity supports
child development specific to the developmental domain.

The children, specifically Payton, often play puppies. They either all pretend to be dogs or some of them
will be the owners of the dogs. This activity will give them an opportunity to use their imagination to use
the items I provide for them however they’d like.

Observation Domain ________Approaches to Learning _________________________

Name and type of learning experience ____Dinosaur hunt_____________________________________

In 3-5 sentences, a description of the teacher’s role during the learning experience and what the
children will be doing.

I will put dinosaurs and plastic eggs on our walking trail through the woods. Before we go outside, I will
show them an egg and dinosaur and explain to them how I found the dinosaur fossils on our trail. I’ll
explain to them that when we go on our walk, we are looking for even more fossils. When the children
find one, I will tell them to explain what they found to their peers. If they aren’t finding some I may lead
them to the ones they haven’t found.

In 2-4 sentences, explanation why the learning experience was chosen and how the activity supports
child development specific to the developmental domain.

The children really enjoy looking for “treasures” when we go on walks. They also often choose to play
with and pretend to be dinosaurs during free play. This will support their curiosity and give them an
opportunity to take risks looking for the dinosaur fossils.

Name and type of learning experience __________Shape Sensory______________________________

In 3-5 sentences, a description of the teacher’s role during the learning experience and what the
children will be doing.

I will fill the sensory bin with rice and different shaped items, that are also different colors. During center
time it will be one of the centers. When the different groups of children are exploring the sensory bin, I
will ask differing questions about the shapes and colors of the items.

In 2-4 sentences, explanation why the learning experience was chosen and how the activity supports
child development specific to the developmental domain.

The sensory bin is one of the most popular centers right now. Children always want to explore it and
figure out what all the items can be used for. Specifically, the child I observed likes to point out different
shapes and colors of varying items. This will give her an opportunity to explain it to her peers.

Observation Domain _________Health/Physical________________________

Name and type of learning experience __________________Animal Acting____________________

In 3-5 sentences, a description of the teacher’s role during the learning experience and what the
children will be doing.

I will tell the children a type of animal, they will act, move around, and make the noise of the animal. For
this activity we will be outside, therefor the children will be able to climb and crawl under the obstacles
outside like the type of animal. By doing it outside they will have the opportunity to be as loud and
move as fast as they want.

In 2-4 sentences, explanation why the learning experience was chosen and how the activity supports
child development specific to the developmental domain.

As a group the children often pretend to be different types of animals. This will allow the children to be
active and move around while using their imagination and pretend to be different animals. Sometimes a
few children don’t want to go off and play on their own, and only will do so if the teacher does it with
them. This will also allow those children to be active and interact with others.
