Hello Church Family,

I pray this update finds you well. As many of you are aware, Michigan Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, held a press
conference yesterday (March 11) declaring a state of emergency in regard to COVID-19. Following this conference
and President Trump’s, the Michigan Conference Administration met this afternoon and decided on the following
guidelines for churches.

“We are also asking that churches abide by the recommended guidelines for mass events that include the cancellation
or postponement of large gatherings and conferences greater than 100 people in a shared space. There are
several options for larger churches, which may include:

Streaming service where the pastor and limited numbers are present to facilitate the online service (fewer than
100 attendees),
Conducting multiple worship services where each service has less than 100 members,
Conducting worship in the homes of various church members,
Churches may also opt for other options, as long as they are compliant with state recommendations. "

See Michigan Conference's complete guidelines here.

How This Affects The East Lansing University Church (UCHURCH)

The UCHURCH has over 100 members worshipping most sabbaths and members who may fall within the high-risk
category. We do not want to contribute to the spread of the virus or put anyone at risk and have therefore created the
following guidelines specific to our church.

These guidelines will be in effect until further information is received. We plan to revisit the state of things at the end
of March and send out another update.

1. In-person Sabbath services will be postponed. Instead, we are encouraging members to stay home and utilize our
online streaming service. You may on either of the following links to watch the service,

1. Friday night Bible study classes will be postponed. We are hoping to do an online study instead. More on this
later.
2. Other cancellations: Men and Women's Ministry meetings and Nursing home ministry.
3. Prayer Meeting on Sunday morning at 7am will be open since we have a very small group.

Let us continue to pray and remain faithful to the Lord as we look to Him during this time. Our hearts are with those
who are facing difficulty and I am thankful for how blessed we are as a church family. Let us keep in mind the words
of the apostle Paul,

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made
known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6
