Lesson Plan

Subject : Chemistry Time allocated : 60’

Class/semester : XI/1 Teacher : Sandika

Lesson Plan Title :

5.1 Enthalpy change, ΔH
Learning Outcomes :
1 Understand that chemical reactions are accompanied by enthalpy changes and these changes can be exothermic
(ΔH is negative) or endothermic (ΔH is positive).
2 Construct and Interpret a reaction pathway diagram, in terms of the enthalpy change of the reaction and of the
activation energy.
Prerequisites :
Activation energy, heat, work and internal energy.
Learnig Method/Model:
Model : Discovery Learning
Method : Lecture and Discussion
Suggested Starter Activity/Anticipatory Set :
When we put a glass of hot water on the table, let it sit for 20 minutes. The glass that had been hot started to feel no longer
hot. Why was the water that was hot left for a while felt no longer hot?
Learner Activity :
Student
Activity
Pre Stage
(5 minute)
1 Greeting
2 Raising prayers
3 Students Listening to motivation from the teacher
Main Stage
(40 minute)
1. Students pay attention to the teacher who explains about grades, and the types of enthalpy changes
and distinguishes enthalpy changes using PPT.
2. Asking questions about Change that is not understood from what is observed.
3. Collecting Data: Each group of students receives a worksheet in the form of an evaluation distributed by
the teacher.
4. Students discuss their findings about how to construct and interpret energy level diagrams.
5. Representatives from each group of students present the results of the discussion.
Post Stage
(15 minute)
1. Students are asked to conclude the learning that has been carried out.
2. Students receive an evaluation of the material and learning that has been done.
3. Students pray after the learning process is complete.
