Superintendents:
This morning at the Coronavirus Taskforce meeting, Sec. Cohen of NC DHHS re-
emphasized that “things are moving exceptionally quickly, which is why we need to
move exceptionally quickly as well.”
Please continue to work with your local health departments to determine whether you
need to close a school in order to mitigate any potential spread. If you and your health
department decide to close a school, you will have the full support from NC DPI.
Please make sure you work with the Regional Case Managers to let us know as soon as
you may need to make such a call. In addition to remote learning options, we are
compiling options for student nutrition needs.
Right now, as with the hurricane responses, act in the best interests of your students
and educators. We will work with the legislature to address policy changes and costs.
We will follow up with information on how we can keep track of missed days, impacts
on students and staff, etc.
Please plan to participate, or have a participant, in the webinar tomorrow for
information on remote learning options.
