A7O6, GRADE 1OO, 69OMPa is recommended mostly for use in large reinforced concrete column.

Ideally, a tendon should on only have high strength but also:

1. Remain elastic up to relatively high stresses

2. Show sufficient ductility before failure
3. Have good boding properties, low relaxation, good resistance to fatigue and corrosion
4. Be economical and easy to handle
Type of prestressing tendon:
1. Shape and diameter of tendon: used seven-wire strand, compacted strand section or section
through a drawn strand.
2. ASTM Specification: A416 Uncoated Seven-wire Stress-relieved strand.
3. Typical characteristics: GRADE 270 (1860MPa), ½ in. Diameters
 Common upper and lower tolerance limits on strand area and mass are +4 and -2 percent.
 Assumption of a density of strand is 490lb/ft 3 (7850kg/m3)
 Gauge Length refers to the part of the specimen actually being measured for elongation during
a tensile test.
Minimum properties of prestressing tendon:
a) Yield strength: fpy=0.85fpu (stress-relieved strand)
b) Elastic strain: Epy=0.010
c) Strain at failure: epu=0.040
d) Gauge length: 24in. (610mm)
