Insight:

According to Shelly L. Gable of University of California in Los Angeles it's focuses on the character
strengths and behaviors. It allow individuals to build a life of meaning and purpose to be able to move
beyond surviving to flourishing. In also focusing on how people can become happier and more fulfilled,
positive psychology stands in contrast to a focus on psychopathology. To make it more concrete Peterson
says that "positive psychology is the scientific study of what makes life most worth living” (Peterson,
2008). Positive psychology focuses on the positive events and influences in life, such as positive
experiences (like happiness, joy, inspiration, and love), positive states and traits (like gratitude, resilience,
and compassion) and positive institutions (applying positive principles within entire organizations and
institutions). Also Peterson push this brief explanation a bit further that, positive psychology is a scientific
approach to studying human thoughts, feelings, and behavior, with a focus on strengths instead of
weaknesses, creating the good in life instead of repairing the bad, and taking the lives of average people
up to the best it can be, instead of focusing merely on moving those who are struggling up to normal state
of their life (Peterson, 2008). This study also explain the challenges and future of positive psychology as a
Plain Psychology. Possibly that positive psychology challenges is discourage on how to define what is
something good or describe it to be good. It also emphasize that positive or good has complex meaning. It
needs a broad knowledge and research to explain different aspect, topics, and studies in positive
psychology in order to understand different effects of positive psychology.

Conclusion:

In total, positive thinking emphasizes positivity in all situations. In addition positive psychology offers a

variety of tools for success. Therefore positive psychology draws from the knowledge of experts who
have studied depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. It is also an evidence-based, meaning it is
based on research.
