Directions (Quickwrite)

To begin our Unit Topic of analyzing themes in The Great Gatsby


and how they are portrayed in other forms of media such as
songs, poems, pictures, quotes, etc., we will complete a
quickwrite.

This quickwrite is designed to serves as an introduction for what


will be discussed in future classroom sessions.

To complete the quickwrite, follow the directions:

1.) Open Padlet to complete the assessment.


2.) Answer the following questions (Questions a – d).
 When completing the assignment, write the
question and include your response under the
question.
 Please explain your responses in full &
complete sentences.
3.) Once you are done answering the questions, please email
me the screenshot of your Padlet entry.
 When you are finished with your Padlet, take a
screenshot of your answers with your name at the
top and email it to me.

Quick Write Questions:
a. What are some of the most important moments/scenes
in The Great Gatsby? (The novel, NOT the movie!)
 Compose a list of five (5) key moments from the
novel & justify your answers.
o Why are they important? Why are they
significant?
b. In your own words, what do all of the key moments
have in common?
 Do they all contribute to a particular theme in the
novel?
 Do they highlight an underlying meaning or
message?
 Are they portrayed in a certain way that is not
feature in other literary novels?
c. How do themes contribute to the overall message of
the novel?
 Do they perfectly illustrate what F. Scott Fitzgerald
(the author) is attempting to achieve?
d. Which form of media best represents these themes
highlighted in the novel?
