Directions for Multimedia Presentation

For our final project in our Unit Topic, each student will
create a multimedia presentation that demonstrates how several
themes from The Great Gatsby are exhibited in other forms of
media such as songs, poems, articles, pictures, quotes, etc. We
will dedicate a week of classes for students to demonstrate their
presentations. This final project is the perfect opportunity to
showcase your knowledge regarding how to analyze themes in
literary novels and demonstrate how they are applied in different
forms of media.

Carefully read through the directions to ensure that you receive

the most points possible:

1.) Create a Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, Padlet or

an online platform in which you can present information.

2.) Once you have opened Microsoft PowerPoint, Google

Slides, Padlet or another online platform that is able to
present information, select a theme that is simple, concise,
and will not overwhelm the audience.
 If you choose a theme that contains several color
variations or designs, it will not only overwhelm your
audience members, but it will also lead them to lose
interest in your presentation. Be careful & be cautious!

3.) Create a minimum of seven (7) slides by clicking the

“Insert” tab.

4.) Your presentation must include the following slides:

1.) An opening page with the creative title of your
presentation. (Slide 1)
2.) An overview of The Great Gatsby. (Slide 2)
3.) A minimum of two (2) themes featured in the
novel. (Slide 3)
4.) One page featuring at least one (1) Audio Element.
(Slide 4)
5.) One page featuring at least one (1) Visual
Element. (Slide 5)
6.) One page featuring at least one (1) Textual
Element. (Slide 6)
7.) A concluding page with a closing statement. (Slide
7)
*Failure to include all seven (7) slides will result in a loss of
points!

5.) In Slide 2, you will verbally describe The Great Gatsby

and the key moments that occur in the novel.
o Therefore, your slide must include an image of the
novel or images of the key characters from the novel.
o Do NOT include images from the two recent film
adaptations. We did not discuss the films, we
discussed the novel!

6.) In Slide 3 you will feature two or more themes that are
interesting to you.
o You will provide an in-depth description of the two or
more themes and explain why those themes are
interesting to you.

7.) For slides 3 – 6, include a minimum of two (2) bullet

points that feature key points of information.
o This is where you will verbally explain to the
audience the particular Audio Element, Visual
Element, and Textual Element you have chosen to
include and explain why you have chosen those
particular images, songs, poems, etc.

8.) In your concluding page/slide, include a closing

statement.
o This can include a quote, a picture, or a statement
that will leave your audience members in awe.

9.) Once your multimedia presentation is complete, you

will present to the class!
o You must demonstrate your presentation to the class
in 7 – 10 minutes.
 *Failure to meet the time requirement will result
in a loss of points!
o Make sure to save your presentation on to a USB
Flash Drive and bring the Flash Drive to class.
o In addition, please email me your USB Flash Drive in
the event that you experience technical difficulties
with your USB Flash Drive.

10.) The day after you have demonstrated your presentation

to the class, submit your presentation to the
Submission Box located on the “Assessments” section
of our Digital Unit Resources Website.
