Student Teachers’ Anxiety During Their Teaching Practice in Internship

Program

ABSTRACT

Foreign language teaching anxiety was constantly aware of those whose


English was the foreign language. This study aims to explore student teachers’
anxiety teaching practice in the internship program and investigate the strategies
to cope with their anxiety during teaching practice.

The mixed-method research design was applied in this study. The


quantitative data were obtained from close-ended questions and the qualitative
data are obtained from open-ended questions. There were forty-seven participants
of this research.

The result shows that student-teacher agrees that they gain teaching
anxiety during teaching practice. It also reveals that there was a significant
correlation between the four anxieties (evaluation anxiety, management anxiety,
pedagogical anxiety, and staff-relation anxiety). The strategy that used by student
teachers to cope with their anxiety were; prepare before teaching, to practice more
before class, to make more interaction with the students, to comprehend the
subject materials, and self-control.
