Course Description: 

General idea of laws with respect to Intellectual Property Rights and the underlying
concepts and related case laws.

2a.Objective:The overall objective of the Course is as follows:

Course Objective: 

1. To enable learners to understand the basics of Intellectual Property Rights that


helps to prepare the necessary guidelines , their implications on IP related cases.
2. To deal with the entire IPR framework under which different jurisdictions
operate, by comparative analysis of existing rules in developed and developing
countries.
3. General idea in respect of different kinds of impacts, whether Patent related, IP
management or Copyright & Trademark related issues etc.
4. To identify the provisions under Copyright Act, Patents Act and related laws for
better understanding of the IP litigation and practice.
5. To provide a general idea in respect of different kinds of laws related with IPR.
6. To provide an exposure to global issues with related to IPR , by exposing case
laws and the imbibed jurisprudence therewith.

 
2b Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of the course, students should be
able to:
1. Understand importance of IPR Laws in contemporary legal & business
environment.
2. Enrich the ability of understanding multidisciplinary features of IPR in India
3. Determine and analyze institutional framework and legislative intent to throw a
guiding light for combating complex IPR related issues.
4. Deal with various types of multidisciplinary issues to ensure a sound counsel fit.
5. Understand various judgments to better appreciate growing dimensions of Law of
IPR and its nexus to Nation’s Economic and Social growth worldwide.
6. Figure out possible solutions to infringements & passing off related problems by
applying interdisciplinary and comparative analysis..

2e. Assignment:

The students will be given three assignments. The assignment comprises of open ended
topics and short and essay type questions pertaining to the chapters, journals, projects,
group work, case study, problem solving, quiz and any other form of assignment.
 The students must submit their assignment on or before the date announced. Late
submission will lead to fewer marks awarded for the assignment component at the end of
the semester.

For High Achievers: Peer to peer teaching and learner support, Assignments

For Slow Learners- Remedial consultation sessions and additional support.

5.Academic Integrity Policy:

 Students are expected to follow the Rules of Conduct and Academic


Behavior standards as detailed in the Student hand book.  Failure to comply
with these rules may result in disciplinary actions as stipulated in the
Students Handbook.

 Note: Copying and plagiarism in any form for any of the evaluation
components will result in zero marks.

6. Evaluation Scheme
 Continuous evaluation will be conducted as per the guidelines of the
University. It is continuous and spread throughout the course; hence
absenteeism from class may be detrimental to learning. The details of the

Guidelines to students: 

1. All candidates should prepare for the case without fail.  Under no circumstances
candidates are allowed to loaf. Disruptive behavior in the class will be dealt with
strictly.
2. Any candidate can be chosen randomly by the faculty member to answer a
question related to the case/chapter; therefore, it is mandatory for every candidate
to be ready with the answer.  The Faculty Member will evaluate the answers. 
3. Late comers will not be allowed into the class. If allowed to attend the class, will
not be given attendance.
