Dear Sir / Madam

I am excited to submit my application Graduate Engineer with WCJ Engineering. I completed a Civil Engineering
MEng degree at City University, and I aspire for a career in Civil Engineering specifically Structural design. I am
motivated and driven to become an expert within structural engineering and I aspire to become Chartered Engineer.
I am therefore looking for an entry to intermediate level long-term position with a company dedicated to open
communication, integrity, accountability, and career growth. My business intelligence and client relationship skills
are in addition to my technical strengths, problem solving skills, and communication skills.

My major project at university was based on the analysis of reinforced and unreinforced concrete tunnel lining using
the finite element design software Abaqus. I produced and analysed models on this FEA software in order to validate
the behaviour of tunnel lining under these two conditions. On top of this I also used AutoCAD and other digital
software in the development of my ideas whilst working on this project. I also worked on a marine redevelopment
project where I designed a cruise ship terminal using British standard codes BS 6349 along with Eurocodes 1, 2 and 3.
I also worked on various design projects involving onshore structures like buildings and highways.

In my current position I have worked on a number of refurbishment projects with structural engineering experts to
convert old buildings into new apartments for multiple occupancies. Working with these experts has given me
greater understanding of structural design and has also increased my desire to explore and learn more about the
relationship between structural engineering and architectural design. The commercial aspect of my current role has
also given me greater insight into the projects after completion and highlighted the importance of insightful designs.

In my current role I am required to communicate ideas and information through drawing, reports and speaking to
our clients. I am therefore confident that I am the right person for this role. I am highly motivated and my
achievements with my current employer highlight my logical thinking and problem-solving skills. I am also part of my
local football team which achieved promotion last year, so I understand the importance of working in a team and the
joy of a successful team. It has taken great resilient and adaptation for me to reach this far in my career as I have had
to work various jobs like a factory line operative and security guard to find my university degree without government
assistance. I will therefore work extremely hard to ensure that I meet expectations and to ensure the company
success.

I desire to work for a vibrant company who values are growth, integrity, and technical excellence as I pursue to
strengthen my experience working in the diverse culture of design. Therefore WCJ Engineering is a perfect suit for
me. I also look forward to working locally and globally as I advance my continual personal development (CPD)
program to gain chartership. I am a member of the ICE and my top priority is to gain chartership in Structural
Engineering.

I look forward to showcasing my suitability for this position. Further examples of my unique leadership skills and
engineering achievements are outlined on the attached document. I am dedicated to partnering with a team with
my same passion for growth and success in Structural Engineering. I would enjoy discussing how I can meet the
demands of this role to advance the mission of your company. Thank you for reviewing this letter and the
accompanying material.

Sincerely,
Umar Mukiibi
