• Program information: The National Organization of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome was

founded in 1990. This organization wants to create awareness of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

and help society be more open towards accepting and understanding people with FAS.

The organization wants to educate people on why it is so important to abstain from drugs

and alcohol while pregnant. They want to help families find resources and tools in their

area.

• Program information- This is a local resource/ social media support group for mothers

that have children with disabilities.

Rationale: This support group can give the family support emotionally. By being able to talk

with other mothers and families who may go through the same thing as the Gonzales family. The

family can also interact socially with other people when they have community events for

children with special needs. Using this resource it is giving the family new ideas, and advice on

the challenges they may face.

2nd Concern:Maria and Jose would like to find a child care provider for Miguel. They want

someone who could take care of Miguel and his special needs. While they go to family events

and dates as a married couple.

Rationale: Having Miguel go to a physical therapist would help him healthily grow and develop,

2nd Concern: Maria and Jose are concerned about where they can find Speech Therapists for

Miguel. This is a concern because of his poor communication skills and his ability to speak and

express himself.

will need additional therapy as he grows.

Outcome: When Miguel succeeds in his communication goals and is continuing to develop

communication skills, the family will be relieved of the stress of Miguel's speech delays.

Rationale: If Miguel is able to meet with a speech therapist, he will develop communication

unable to qualify for financial help which would lead to the family paying out of pocket.

group therapy.

Rationale: If the family is willing to try group therapy along with negotiating with different

therapist they will be able to find some sort of aid.

2nd Concern: Maria and Jose would like to know more about a private therapist for Miguel. If

the Gonzales have to pay out of pocket or only receive half coverage, they will not have enough

money to pay for the private therapist for Miguel.

Outcome: Having a private therapist will help Miguel to deal better with his delays.

Suggestion Action: Some people do receive financial aid to help pay for therapist. The best thing

you need to do is get in contact with your insurance what what they will cover and take

advantage of all the different programs out there that are willing to contributes to cause like

yours.
