or “gossiping” about other individuals.
o Only touch things that belong to you without express permission from the owner.
• Come to class prepared: Assignment, textbook, and requested supplies.

• Divide work equally – everyone should be working during collaboration time.
• Address issues with teacher after class or during access hours.
Handing in work procedures:
• Write assigned number, date, and assignment title in the top left-hand corner.
• Work must be completed in blue or black ink.
• Writing must be legible - illegible work will be returned for resubmission and partial credit.
• Work will be turned in to appropriate period box before class starts.
Late work policy:
• 1-day grace period observed on final assignments; to receive extra time students must write a
short formal letter expressing need and reason for time.
• Work turned in after the grace period will receive feedback and partial credit as per school
policy.
Absence policy:
• Learners receive two days per day absent to complete make-up work.
• Learners will complete all assignments given in class or as homework.
• Absence on test days will result in tests taken during study hall.
Free Time procedures:
• Learners will have teacher check in-class work for completion by raising their hand.
• Learners may work on upcoming projects, assignments from other classes, or read a book after
teacher certifies completion.
Opportunities & Encouragement
• Learners who follow rules and procedures and contribute positively to class will be provided
with the opportunity to play learning games (Kahoot & Quizlet Live) at the end of class.
• Extra credit may be earned provided that all assignments have been completed through
engagement in history-based community activities. Please see Ms. Kathryn for further details.
Consequences:
To maintain a positive, collaborative, learning environment and use every moment of class time, the
rules, procedures and routines are actively encouraged and enforced. Behavior or actions which do
not reflect this mindset will not be tolerated. Learners who choose to break a rule, or ignore a
procedure face the consequences of the infraction.
Depending upon severity and frequency possible repercussions for actions include:
o warning
o conference with instructor
o detention
o referral to administration.

I understand and pledge to follow the above rules, procedures, and polices for U.S. History.
