Today while playing outside we noticed that we had shadows! I was able to talk to the children about the sun and our shapes blocking the light. Miriam knew how to make shadow animals! So we had a great time guessing which animals we could make! Lets play again another sunny day! Issa, tried to touch his shadow! Through exploration play we discovered how shadows appear! Children gain famili- arity with scientific concepts through interesting and capturing play. I would love to extend this play with light and shadows, I will keep an eye out for an old OHP projector and some col- oured blocks, cellophane and shadow puppet ideas. So we can continue to explore light and its properties. Miriam, this experience fits in perfectly with our individual learning goal of Confidence using communication for a range of purposes to com- municate in English and share others ideas in play. Miriam you shared your idea of shadow puppets and this drew in many children and you were able to communicate your theories effectively. Thanks for sharing Miriam you brought fun into our learning!
