I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a) differentiate direct and indirect speech through reading short news reports;
b) demonstrate appreciation and understanding of direct and indirect speech
through accomplishing a role play emphasizing the value of using direct and
indirect speech;
c) perform a role play emphasizing the proper use of direct and indirect speech;

I have here some excerpts from the latest
news today; you are going to identify the
paragraphs if they are in direct speech
and/or indirect speech.

spoken words of a person. It can be in
a form of direct speech or indirect
speech. The two are different from
each other. You can easily recognize
the two by mainly basing on the tenses
and how the two are constructed.

Read three (3) news articles and list all the direct and indirect speech you can see on the
articles.
