1. Introduction
1.1 Intended Use
The RESmart BPAP 20T/25T/30T system is a Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure device, which is
intended to provide non-invasive ventilation for patients with respiratory insufficiency or obstructive
sleep apnea (OSA), either in the hospital or at home.
The RESmart BPAP 20T/25T/30T is to be used only on the instruction of a licensed health care
professional. Your home care provider will make the correct pressure settings according to your
health care professional’s prescription.
Several accessories are available to make your treatment with the RESmart BPAP 20T/25T/30T
as convenient and comfortable as possible. To ensure that you receive the safe, effective therapy
prescribed for you, use only BMC accessories.
The RESmart BPAP 20T/25T/30T is only used for single patient and must not be re-used on another
person. This is to avoid the risk of cross-infection.
IMPORTANT!
Read and understand the entire user manual before operating this system. If you have any
questions concerning the use of this system, contact your home care provider or health care
professional.

3. Software
3.1 Upgrading Device Firmware
Note: Once the RESmart BPAP device is powered on, the display screen will show the current
firmware version, the below picture for example, in the red frame is the firmware version.

Upgrade the device firmware (through SD Card)

1. Rename the firmware file to be “BMC.UPK” on PC, for example as below:

2. Power off (without power connection) the RESmart BPAP device.


3. Insert the SD card from RESmart BPAP device into computer.
4. Copy the firmware file (BMC.UPK) onto SD Card.
5. Insert the SD card into RESmart BPAP device.

6. Press and hold + buttons together as below, in the meantime, power on (connect the
power) the device. Note: Please do not release the buttons until the upgrade process finished.

7. The screen would display as below (for example):

8. Now the upgrade process is finished, please release the buttons.


9. If upgrade successfully, the right firmware version will be displayed on screen when every time
power on the device.
NOTE!
If the upgrade failed, please repeat above steps 1-9.
If “Error 08” displayed after firmware upgrading, it means unmatched firmware has been used. In this
case, please use correct firmware to upgrade again.
3.2 Hidden Function
1. Humidifier matching and dis-matching (This is automatically for the device, if the
humidifier is not working properly, perform this operation.) (Available on version 1.19 and later)
Assemble humidifier on main device, without water chamber. Enter the maintenance menu, and set
Ramp=40, then press Heated Humidifier Button when the Init P appears. Thus the humidifier is
matched. When ‘OK’ appears on screen, humidifier matching succeeded.
If cut the power supply after pressing ‘Pressure Start/Stop Button’ when the humidifier is matching,
the humidifier will be dis-matched.
2. Reset (Available on version 1.28 and later)
Press and hold the Ramp Button until the user menu appears (about 3 seconds) when the device is
on standby, press +/- User Buttons to access the Date Setting, set ‘YYYY/MM/DD’=’2097/07/01’,
then press ‘Pressure Start/Stop Button’ when ‘Hour’ setting appears, thus all device settings and
therapy records (doesn’t include Use Days and Use Time) will be reset.
If set ‘Minute’=’16’ during the above procedure, then not only device settings and therapy records,
but also patient information will be reset.
If set ‘Minute’=’26’ during the above procedure, then not only device settings, therapy records and
patient information, but also Use Days and Use Time will be reset.
3. Pressure calibration (Available on version 1.58 and later)
Connect pressure meter to the air outlet of the device, in the Date and Time Setting menu, set
‘YYYY/MM/DD’=’2098/08/18’, press ‘Pressure Start/Stop Button’ when Hour Setting appears to start
the Pressure Calibration. The device output pressure is based on 20 hPa (cmH2O), and a number will
appear on the screen, when the output pressure is stable, if the value on the pressure meter is not 20
hPa (cmH2O), press ‘+/-’ User Buttons to adjust the output pressure , finally press ‘Pressure
Start/Stop Button’ to finish the Pressure Calibration.

4. Malfunction and Countermeasure

4.1 Error Code List for RESmart

NOTE
If the device experiences the error code, it is basically caused by the malfunction of the blower unit
or the Main PCBA, so the repair principle is to first replace the most possible malfunction part, such
as the Main PCBA,. However, if the problem is still there, place the Main PCBA, back, and then replace
the blower unit, the problem should be solved. If you still cannot solve it, please feel free to contact
us.

Error 01: Overtemperature: Main PCBA temperature is too high, or the Main PCBA temperature
sensor is damaged.
If the roomtemperature is not above 35°C, please replace the Main PCBA.

Error 02: The blower does not run: Malfunction of the blower, Main PCBA or pressure sensor results
in closed-loop control error.
Please replace the blower unit.

Error 03: The blower runs abnormally slow: Malfunction of the blower, Main PCBA or pressure sensor
results in closed-loop control error.
Please replace the blower unit first. if the problem cannot be solved,replace the blower unit back, and
then replace the Main PCBA.

Error 04: The Main PCBA temperature sensor is damaged.


Please replace the Main PCBA.

Error 06: Humidifier matching parameters are not normal.


Please connect the humidifier to another well-functioning main device; if the humidifier works
properly, then you need to replace the Main PCBA for the failure device;
If the humidifier cannot work properly, then replace the heater plate for the humidifier.

Error 07: The drift of zero point for the pressure sensor is out of limitation: It may be the parameters
error or the pressure sensor is damaged.
Please replace the Main PCBA.

Error 08: Firmware version matching error: Used a wrong (non-matched) firmware version when
upgrading the device.
Please select the right upgrade firmware to conduct the upgrade again, such as 1.90-TN.upd 
1.9E.04-TN.upd. The suffix of the firmware version is the same.

Error 09: Device parameters error: The device has no production process parameters or CPU error.
Please replace the Main PCBA.

Error 12: Overtemperature: Flow sensor temperature is too high, or the flow sensor is damaged.
If the room temperature is not above 35°C, please replace the Main PCBA.

Error 13: Device temperature is lower than 0°C, or the digital pressure sensor fails.
If the room temperature is not below 0°C, please replace the Main PCBA.

Error 14: Overtemperature: Blower temperature is too high, or the blower temperature sensor is
damaged.
Please replace the blower unit.

Error 15: The blower temperature sensor is damaged.


Please replace the blower unit.

Error 16: Lack of hardware parameters: The production process was not finished; the production
firmware should be replaced.
Please replace the Main PCBA.

Error 17: Firmware error for BPAP: Wrongly wrote firmware of BPAP 25T/30T into BPAP 25/25A.
Please select the right upgrade firmware, and conduct the upgrade again.

Error 18: Firmware error for BPAP: Wrongly wrote firmware of BPAP 25/25A into BPAP 25T/30T.
Please select the right upgrade firmware, and conduct the upgrade again.

Error 19, Error 20: Blower drive circuit experiences overtemperature, or blower temperature sensor
is damaged.
Please replace the blower unit first. If the problem cannot be solved,place the blower unit back, and
then replace the Main PCBA.

Error 21: Auto CPAP, BPAP: The Main PCBA temperature sensor and flow sensor both experience
over temperature or are damaged.
CPAP: The Main PCBA temperature sensor and power tube thermistor both experience
overtemperature.
Please replace the Main PCBA first. If the problem cannot be solved,place the Main PCBA back, and
then replace the blower unit.

Error 22: Blower overcurrent


Please replace the Main PCBA first. If the problem cannot be solved,place the Main PCBA back, and
then replace the blower unit.

Error 23: Mean blower overcurrent


Please replace the Main PCBA first. If the problem cannot be solved,place the Main PCBA back, and
then replace the blower unit.

Error 24: Mean overcurrent during pressure calibration.


Please replace the Main PCBA.

Error 74: Validation error for the blower data returned from the serial port.
Please replace the Main PCBA.

Error 75: The blower cannot launch in 20 seconds.


Please firstly check if there is water in the blower, if yes, replace the blower unit. After that, if the
problem is still there, continue to replace the Main PCBA;
If there is no water in the blower, replace the Main PCBA directly.

Clean up the blower wires and wind them with


a tube. Insert the plugs into sockets PM. Put
9 the lead of thermistor into socket PRT on main
board. Connect the main board to 24V power
supply.

Draw the shield back backwards and put the


3-pin plug into the corresponding socket on its
back. Lay the main board onto the 4
supporting poles on the shield bottom and set
10 it into the power board via the fixing pole on
PCB and get the main board fixed.
Put blower wires on the side into the gap
between blower unit and shield bottom.

1 Put the handle in the socket of the shield cover.

Assemble handle fixing to handle and fix by screw

(4*3*8 mm).

3 Assemble the infrared window.

4 Assemble and fix the panel.

5 Put on the key buttons.

Assemble shield cover on the bottom, adjust the


6 position of outlet and make sure it is clamped in
the right socket.

7 Fix the shield by 4 pieces screws (M3*10 mm).

8 Stick the 4 pieces of device pads.

9 Put in the filter and assemble the cover.

10 Put on all plugs if necessary (without humidifier).

3. Humidifier
S/N Assembly Figure

As per Fig. H, assemble the heater plane and

wire. Fix them by screw (3*8 mm).

Put springs on each of the three poles on

heater plane.

Assemble the scaleboard on the heater plane

and fix by screws (3*8 mm).

As per Table 3, assemble heater PCBA and

wires.

Put the humidifier inner connector on the

shield.

6 Put on light window.

7 Assemble the inner and outer shield.

8 Fix on the screws (M3*10mm).
