I started to design the
appearance of the furniture’
legs because the legs are the
part that will make the chair or
table be adjustable in heightThen | did a research about the
mechanism of the general
adjustable-height chairs and
tables in order to apply and
adapt to my design, but this
existing mechanism limits the
range of adjustment of the
furniture.Therefore, the new mechanism
that | came up with can finally
solve the aforementioned
problem by increasing the
range of adjustment of the
furniture. This mechanism also
allows a s!
htly change
appearance of the furniture
and provides a neat and
beautiful looking of the
furniture with no effort of the
user. The furniture uses a torsion spring
to lock itself. Take a cloth clipper as
an example to imagine the
mechanism of the torsion spring. The torsion spring can be
adjusted its position and
locked in the decided
position by obstructing the
clippers with some object
since its free position is
"close."I designed to use a tangential
type one that has a free
position at about 210 degree,
so that it can flick to its free
position fitting into the slots
inside the outer fixed legs in
order to provide locking
system.Since both legs of the torsion
spring can be flicked, the
upper leg of the torsion spring
must be fixed. To solve this, |
designed to cover the torsion
spring with tiny metal swivel
plate, which will be impaled to
the moving leg with shaft,
providing neatness looking
because the torsion spring part
of the mechanism cannot be
seen anymore. Also, since the torsion spring
has a left wind direction, the
lower leg of the torsion spring
can be torqued to the left to
create a straight angle in order
for it to be movable along the
furniture’s leg for height
adjustment.However, the users cannot
simply push the moving legs
down because the torsion
spring cannot be torqued any
further due to its free position
at only about 210 degree.Instead, the pushing arm has
to be pressed in order to
release the torsion spring out
from the slot
