 What’s in the bag- Have bags with solid liquid and gas
items in and allow children to discuss and observe the
bags
 Root beer floats- make these with the children and
explore and discuss the changes that happen when you
add ice-cream to you ginger beer
 Baking soda and vinegar balloon experiment- allow
children to watch the self-inflating balloon, discuss what
changes are occurring during the process
 Lollipop lab- have children dissolve lollipop and discuss
what happened, did they stay as a solid?
 Make butter from cream- shows the changes in the
properties that can occur over night
 Dry ice and water- observe and discuss what happens
when dry ice is added with water
PHYSICAL: Gross Motor
 Water trough- allow children to have different
materials to experiment with in the water and
observe changes that occur e.g. ice
 Sensory bottle- engage children with different
matters that they can play with and observe
 Sink or float experiment- give children different
materials and allow them to see if these
materials sink or float when placed in water
 Sates of matter with water beads- experiment
with the water beads the different kinds of
matter states
 Ice play- allow children to explore states of
