Linguistic Issues in The Interpretation of the Famous Nine Poems by Abi

Djaafar Al-Nahas (338 Hejiri)

This thesis is a linguistic investigation which aims at shedding light on a

book by one of the famous ancient Arab grammarians called Abu Djaafar
Al-Nahas (338 Hejiri), which is entitled The Interpretation of the Famous
Nine Poems. In this study, the researcher gathers all the linguistic
aspects, i.e. phonological, syntactic, grammatical, and semantic, using
inference, assembling, classification, and categorization, for the sake of
arriving at better results. In addition to this, the researcher had recourse
to explanation, analysis, commentary, and illustration so as to clarify
certain ambiguities and explain a number of convergent and divergent
ideas. In fact, the ultimate aim of this study is to explain his linguistic
ideas, and his ranks among his contemporary grammarians, and how he
.applied grammatical analysis on classical poetic texts
