Affirmative Action - Rational and Issues Involved.

20th century was known for its reformist regimes and during that time the
society went through rapid structural and political changes, The concept
of state was redefined to include collective responsibility to exercise just
and rational principles. Thus most of our states were transformed into
democratic regimes, Where one’s natural rights are assured by his/her
association in the political system as its contributor. He/She is a valuable
part of the state and the ground norm of democratic politics being the the
state arises from the people, for the people and by the people. This sense
of collective responsibility gave birth to the concept of equity where no
tho in a system are equal and are made equal by the state’s policies.
Equality is an utopian norm, and the first step to assuring equality is to
transform society into equals and this need for equity initiates positive
discrimination in a society.
Indian society has been a divided one thousands of year’s of class
discrimination has placed certain sections of the society in perpetual
poverty and marginalization keeps recurring in these societies. Many
countries even today have deep inequalities in their social strata but in
India these social inequalities are highly structured and are manifested in
a definite institution of caste. Caste in India is a very ancient institution
and has led to vast inequalities in Indian society, The extreme
manifestation of such social inequalities in India led to a growing
awareness of the need of reform
