Re: Covid-19 and protection of sanitation workers.
From: Rapid Removal Disposal, Inc. (RRD) Due to Covid-19 virus pandemic and its unknown life cycle. We at Rapid Removal have decided to follow the national response set forth by the big national waste haulers in the U.S.A. (Waste Management/Advance Disposal, Republic Waste Services, Waste Corporation of America-WCA, Waste Connections, Rumpke, Casella Waste Systems) These haulers are suspending weekly bulky item pickup and the spring cleanups due to the virus living on these items. Also, because these items require more than one person. Exposing two or more people! If, a sanitation employee comes down with the virus it could easily disable the entire work force for that company. This would result in all weekly trash service being affected. Suspending these two services would minimize the virus exposure to our sanitation workers. In addition to the above two changes. All waste companies have implemented the following; Carts only nothing on the outside. If carted! Bagged trash only if not carted. Increase the bag limit to 12. (13 gallon) Do not come into close contact/proximity with residents while on the route. Suspend all move-in, or move-out trash pickup. Maintaining weekly trash service takes priority over all special request. We would like to have a discussion with all the cities concerning changes that should be made to protect our employees. Please call me (Jim Watje / Co-owner) at 816-853-1109 We are more than willing to discuss and work with everyone concerning these changes. Rapid Removal Disposal, and all waste haulers are working hard to maintain weekly trash service.
