it’s title, “Tampuhan”. The artwork depicts a Filipino man and woman in a living room
appearing to be sulking towards one another or experiencing “tampo” in Tagalog; an occurrence

The Materials

communicated the intended impact of the painting effectively, as the painting left an impression
on the viewer in line with its title, “Tampuhan”, and its intended appeal. The oil on canvas

artwork fits the former’s provided title. The artwork elicited the intended reaction from its

The Art Elements/Principles

Color and value are two prominent elements present in the artwork. The increased value
of light colors like yellow contrasted by the shadowing dark colors established the warm mood
of the painting. The artist was also able to manipulate the form of the painting as it was made to
seem portruding from its two-dimensional surface . The painting is also asymmetrical, although
balance was also made apparent in the totality of the work. All in all, the art form is pleasing to
the senses, specifically to the eyes, with its aesthetic appeal and warm effect brought to life by
the art’s and artist’s various use of art elements and principles.
