ABSTRACT

This action research was conducted to evaluate the use of the PuZA method in solving
multiplication involving whole numbers and multiples of 10, 100 and 1000. This study was
conducted on eight Year 4 students in Sekolah Seri Pinang, consisting of 4 boys and 4 girls. To
identify this problem, initial survey was carried out through analysis of documents, observation
and diagnostic testing. Initial survey results showed that the respondents faced significant
problems in solving problems involving multiplication of whole numbers in the multiples of 10,
100 and 1000. The data for this study was collected using pre-test, post-test, interviews and
questionnaires. The results showed that all eight respondents in this study indicated a significant
increase in post-test compared to pre-test. The results indicated that PuZA method helped these
eight respondents in solving multiplication problems with whole number in multiples of 10, 100
and 1000 and increased their interest to solve multiplication operation in Mathematics.
