Interpretation of findings (400 words)

Table 1 presents the mean score for boys and girls, it shows a great deal of difference in self-efficacy.
Girls` scores on self-efficacy are significantly lower (3.14) than boys` score of self-efficacy (5.71). That
means that boys have higher confidence in their ability to perform a task successfully, than girls, who
considered themselves less capable of success. Boys and girls IQ scores were almost the same, as
boys scored 99 points compared to girls who scored 100 points in the IQ test, demonstrating that
despite their beliefs in their skills, they have the same cognitive ability. On the mathematic test, girls
scored less than boys, indicating that the hypothesis of self-efficacy is right, the more the boys
believed their ability to perform the task, the better they actually done on the maths test, compared
to girls, who were in doubt with their abilities and done significantly worse than boys, with boys
scoring 84 points, and girls scoring only 52 points on the mathematic test. Table 2 presents the
correlations between self-efficacy, IQ scores and math test scores. The data shows that there are
high correlations were found between self-efficacy and math test scores(0.66), and IQ and maths
test scores (0.44). This data tells us that self-efficacy is just as important as IQ, determining academic
success. The highest correlation was between self-efficacy and maths test scores,(0.66) what
demonstrate that self-efficacy might be more important than IQ in achieving our goals. However
there were very little correlation (0.18) between IQ and self-efficacy, showing a relationship between
IQ and the confidence in one`s ability to succeed, having less important effect, showing that the
having a higher IQ does not always mean academic achievement if one has not got sufficient self-
efficacy and self motivation. Overall this study shows that self-efficacy is a very powerful tool to help
children and adults to reach their goals, and just as important as having a good IQ score, but one
without the other is less powerful in academic success. People must believe themselves to pursue a
goal, and to keep on going even in the hard times, and in lack of progression, using self efficacy as a
self motivator and self regulator. Believing in one`s ability it affects their cognitive abilities, as in they
will find better ways to study therefore they perform better.
