Augmented reality

(Advantages and Disadvantages)

Augmented Reality is a combination of actual reality, virtual
reality and real world surroundings. As the name suggests,
Augmented Reality adds or augments additional stuff to the real
world around us. It makes surrounding world more interactive
which can also be manipulated digitally.

AR technology does really have some important benefits. It is

highly interactive in nature and interacts simultaneously
environment. This is important in critical situations, such as where
there is a fire and the firefighters must have the best information
and be able to tell what is going on inside a building on fire or see
through smoke. AR devices might be useful in the military, where
it could simulate a warzone in the perception of the soldier, thus
training him more efficiently. Because these devices would have
access to our daily actions, it could be helpful in the medical
industry, as it may lead to a more efficient diagnosis of diseases
and in early detection of them. Tourists would also find AR
devices useful as they would get immediate information about the
place they’re in and help them not get lost in foreign countries.

Despite its numerous advantages, there are still some serious

drawbacks that have to be addresses, one of them being the cost
of the production and maintenance of functional AR devices.
Another one might be learning how to use them properly. Lack of
privacy is also a serious concern. Some people argue that by
these devices we could miss on important moments.

As one of the latest technologies developed, Augmented Reality

does still have a long way to go. More improvements should be
done in order to make AR devices a reality of the future. However,
we cannot deny the significance of such a technological

development, as it has brought a whole new idea of how we could
interact with the world.
