Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Kahoot is a student response tool that allows all students to be engaged
and included in the lesson. Each student gets immediate feedback after each question as well as the teacher.
This allows the students and teachers to see what students understand or do not understand which can allow
for one on one further instruction or for the teacher to give that student more resources and tools to be
successful. Kahoot allows for multiple different features that can help all students such as reading the
questions aloud, or allowing for visuals for students who might have trouble reading.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce the
SRT activity.
Before Kahoot is given to the students they will be doing research and learning about the Reconstruction of
American life. They will be given tools such as videos and texts to help them learn about this subject. Kahoot
will serve as their review tool before they take their test at the end of the unit.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: During this lesson students will sit at their desk
and each student will have an iPad. Students will be given the code to log on to the Kahoot game. Students
will be given 8 different review questions to help them prepare for the test. The students will answer the
questions that range from multiple choice as well as true/false. As the students are answering the questions
they will be getting immediate feedback as well as me. I will offer an incentive that the top three students

who finish will get bonus points on the test coming up. The review game will be implemented at the end of
our social studies time and should only be about 10 or 15 minutes.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
This will be their review before a test so I think it is vital for the students to see what they are understanding
and what they need to study more.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the activity I will have a good understanding of where my students are on the concept, as well as each
individual student will be aware of their understanding and what they need to study before the test. I will
encourage students to use the Kahoot game as well at home for more review. I also will offer bonus points for
students who create their own Kahoot game.

How will the data be used? At the end of the game and lesson I will have an understanding of everyone’s
knowledge. I can also see if there are any specific questions that all of the students got wrong which is
something that I would want to address right then to clear up misconceptions. After the results I might see
students who are struggling and suggest to them that they study a little more and provide them with extra
resources and tools.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My goal for this is to create an engaging and
informative for students. I want them to have fun while also see what they understand or do not understand.
I want to allow students to have an environment that enhances students learning.

Reflective Practice: Depending on how this lesson was to go and how the classroom management was
handled will determine my next steps with Kahoot. I think that it would be engaging lesson as well as
providing students with resources outside of the classroom that they can use for study tools.
