IEP Goal(s)

Actual: Student will, when given a level 3 oral reading fluency passage be able to read 100 words correct per minute with 80% accuracy on 3
progress monitoring assessments.

Instructional Objective(s):
Students will be able to read and recognize 8 vocabulary words that are in the story “The Emperor’s New Clothes”.

Behavioral Objective(s):
Students will comply with the teacher’s instruction 8 out 10 times with in 10 seconds.

Content (concepts, information, skills, new vocab, etc.):

Emperor, goodhearted, palace, tailors, shrewd, escorted, aghast, assembled.


Instructional Materials Needed:

5 copies of the story, vocab cards, student folders, and raffle tickets.
Procedures/Activities (add additional rows of Teacher [T] and Student [S] roles for each activity as needed):

1. Get students’ attention:


a. Teacher: Class! Class!
b. Student: Yes! Yes!

2. Academic review /Gather background knowledge


a. T: Has anyone ever heard of what an emperor is? Or read a story about an emperor getting new clothes?
b. S: An emperor is like a king!

3. State instructional objectives


a. T: Today we are going to be reading a story about an emperor getting new clothes and the tailors that make those clothes. We are
going to go over vocabulary that might be unfamiliar to us.
b. S: Great! We are ready to learn!

4. Review behavior expectations


a. T: I want you to sit up nice and tall with your eyes looking at me. If you have a question you raise your hand. What do you do if you
have a question?
b. S: Raise your hand!

Adaptations/Modifications/Accommodations:
Each student that has trouble reading the words will have their own vocabulary words on cards to read as well as the story printed in big font.

Reinforcement Procedures:
Each student can earn raffle tickets to be used in a class store to purchase items in the store.

Daily Evaluation
a. Before lesson: Ask students if they have heard of the word before or if they know what the word means?
b. During lesson: review the past words to see if the students remember the words we reviewed earlier.
Post Evaluation (data-based decision making):
Review the words again if the students forget the words and go over them again for remembering.

Follow-up Activities:
Having a word wall available to put the words that the students have mastered.
