Facility:
All matches will be played on the NUS Multipurpose Sports Hall 5 Badminton Courts 1, 2 and
4.
SBS/SMRT Bus services available from Boon Lay, Jurong East, Woodlands Interchanges 97,
197, 198, and 963.
All teams are requested to be on the reporting time stated due to limited booking time
constraint.

Format:
Teams were formed and is split into two groups based on the number of teams (For details
refer the fixtures below). Teams will compete against an opposing team for Round-Robin
league matches within the same group.

Playoffs will be played between Top 2 teams in each group qualify for Semis (A1 vs B2
and A2 vs B1) and Winners of Semis will compete in finals.
In case of a tie* between two teams in points table after group stage, teams with a win in their
head to head encounter is considered for qualification for Playoffs.

*All the decisions made by the organizing committee is final.

Toss:
Before commencing play, the opposing sides shall toss a coin and the side winning the toss
shall have the option of:

 Serving First,
 Not Serving First, or
 Choosing Ends

Scoring System:
 A match consists of one game to 21 points.
 At 20 all, the side which gains a two-point lead first wins the game.
 At 29 all, the side scoring the 30th point wins that game.
 Every time there is a serve, there will be a point scored, unless that point is replayed.
 Referees has to score with scoring sheet provided by coordinator and has to return the
sheet upon completion of games.

Doubles Game Rules:

1. At the beginning of the game and when the score is even, the server serves from the
right service court. When it is odd, the server serves from the left court.
2. The server must hit the shuttle into the opposite service court. In doubles this extends
to the outside rectangular space.
3. Once the shuttle is hit after a serve it may be returned into any portion of the other end
of the court marked by the outside edges of the boundary lines.
4. If the serving side wins a rally, the serving side scores a point and the same server
serves again from the alternate service court.
5. If the receiving side wins a rally, the receiving side scores a point. The receiving side
becomes the new serving side.
6. The players do not change their respective service courts until they win a point when
their side is serving.
7. If players commit an error in the service court, the error is corrected when the mistake
is discovered.
8. After the serve is played by the receiving team, either partner may make a play on the
shuttlecock during consecutive returns.
9. You should not serve until the opponent is ready, but if he/she attempts to return the
serve, he/she is considered ready and play continues.
10. If in serving, you miss the shuttlecock, you may serve again providing your racquet did
not make any contact during the attempt.
11. Shuttles that hit the net as they cross during play are good and should be played.
12. If, in serving, the shuttle touches the net, it is a “let” provided the service is otherwise
good and the shuttle is served again.
13. Shuttles that fall on the line are considered good.

Points to Take Note:

1. Please bring your own badminton Racquets if you have one. For those who don’t have
please contact tournament coordinators to get one.
2. Badminton Racquets and Shuttles provided to the player has to be returned to the
coordinator upon completion of game.
3. Isotonic drinks and water will be provided for hydration. Please be considerate to clear
the cans or bottles in to the bins to avoid disturbance to public.

Mixed Doubles and Men’s Doubles Fixtures and Officials

Assistants 1 and 2 are Line Judges who will be responsible for indicating where a shuttle landed “in” or “out”
if the shuttle land near the lines he/she is assigned to monitor.
