History of Domesticated Cats

1a. When they were domesticated
Most people thought that domestic cats came from Egypt 3,000 years ago.
Other people thought they came from African wild cat and accepted that. 10,000
years ago people tried to domesticate farm animals such as sheep, cattle, and goats.
Cats were the only animal people were able to successfully domesticate. On
Cyprus, people found a grave with a cat next to it with a child inside 9500 years
ago, based on that they guessed that cats were pets 9500 years ago.
1b. Where they traveled
The earliest domesticated cats started appearing in Neolithic village in the
Middle East around 10,000 years ago. A small neofelid, Pseudoailurus appeared in
Europe and North America about 23 million years ago. There are actually as many
as 10 million domestic cats in the UK alone. Some 25% of houses were believed to
have at least 1 cat. They are in places such as Mediterranean and Japan, in colonies
of “community cats.”

1c. How they evolved

During this time period everything started with LUCA, an organism that
lived at least 3.5 billion years ago. Miacids were what people believed what was
living before cats, later they became cats, cheetahs, and lynxes.
