Q. We have not seen any sages like Krishna, Rama, Ramakrishna Sarada Devi or Vivekananda. So how do
we understand them and know them?

A. If you want to know their nature, you will have to read the 2 nd chapter, 54 th sloka onwards. Arjuna
also asked Sri Krishna the same question.

Q. May I know what was that question?

Q. Can you explain how were the minds of the great sages like Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, Swami
Vivekananda and others?

A. I cannot explain that, only sages can explain the minds of other sages. If we want to explain and
understand them, we have to become like them. So now I will tell you what Sri Krishna said.

Q. What is this “tortoise pulling its limbs”?

A. It means that sages can pull back all their sense organs and concentrate their minds when ever they
want. Sri Ramakrishna would tell, “I am going into Samadhi” and immediately we would be in Samadhi.

Q. But even I can control my organs If I close my eyes and shut my mouth and keep quiet, is it not ?

A. Yes you may. But That is not enough. Immediately after sometime we lose concentration. It has to be
practiced. Only after realizing God can we be permanently free.

Q. So is it necessary to keep the mind concentrated, to love God and to think of Him? What about
studies?

A. Yes, otherwise if we forget God and his powers in creation, our minds will run after the objects of the
world. We have to keep in mind that all the subjects we study like maths, social studies, science, and
geography etc. are all actually the glory of God. What I meant to say is that we should not keep our
minds on the objects of enjoyment.

Q. So what will happen if we forget God?

A. All fights and trouble in the world are because we forget God and run after sense objects. We will
recite what Sri Krishna says about it.

Q. But everybody runs after sense objects, so is it wrong?

A. Let everybody run, should we follow them.? We want eternal happiness right? Whether we realize God
or not by following the teachings, atleast we remain concentrated and we will not make mistakes. We will
be able to think of higher thinks, love other beings and serve all. We will not be destroyed in the end.
