Instructions for use

What is Rise up?
Rise up is a website that I have created as a
template right now while I code an app. Rise
Up is all about empowering people to learn
about domestic violence, talk about their
stories and advice to help each other, and
will allow people to create a community so
they know they are not alone.
Rise Up is not only for teenagers, but also for
adults and children. Anyone can use this app
no matter the age because too many people
go through it alone.
Rise up is not only based on statistics and
data but also my own personal experience.

Coding

What I have done with it? What I plan on doing with it?
For now all I have done is practice Not only am I planning on coding my
coding while I planned for state. I own app for this project but I also
have learnt so much about all of the am going to try and get state
coding languages, and how much certified for coding in Swift. This
work is put into it, but not only that project has changed so much from
but it has made me go through trial the start and allowed me to learn so
and error and gain more patience much from how to code but how
and determination. good is it to know how to do it.

3
Development
My development has grown so much. At regionals all I had was a main concept of what I wanted to
do and that I wanted to create an app. Now I have created surveys and collected data from before
and after students looked at my website. Created a website that teachers and students from my
school looked at, and I met with several experts while taking benchmark test to become the first
student state certified in Swift. Below on the left is data from how much I knew when I first took the
Swift benchmark test and the data on the right is how much I knew after reviewing my missed
questions.

My Goals

My goals are to…

‐ Cut down the number of teens that become a statistic.
‐ Make education on domestic violence something teens get.
‐ Allow teens and adults to tell their story and give advice
‐ Make a safe community for people to go to when they need
someone to lean on.
‐ Make sure people feel comfortable in the website.
‐ Allow them to get help if they need it.
‐ Having a fully coded app.
‐ Being the first student in the state to be state certified in Swift.

everyone feel safe.

that she thought it was Morehead and she said
an amazing idea and that it was a great idea
concept that teens are to do it on an app to
more likely to talk to make sure that getting
someone through a help was an option that
screen rather than in they don’t get many to
person. let them make that one.

Safety

Safety was a concern when talking to experts about the website, and
that is my top priority that people use the website because they feel safe
with it. I asked the websites and they offered that maybe I should just
make sure their name is not included and nothing about them is on the
website anywhere. They said people should have the option to get help
because sometime that is the only choice they can make if they get to
make that.

9
Understanding and perspectives

Talking with experts and people from my school allowed to to see that everyone
has different thoughts and perspectives on the website. I understand that this is
a huge touchy subject and topic but it needs to be talked about and people need
educated on it. This website will hopefully allow people to get a better
understanding on domestic violence. Seeing surveys and data I have collected
helped me understand just how badly we need education on domestic violence.

Plan & Purpose
My plan is to change as many things as I can with this
app from teens not getting educated on domestic
violence, or teens not talking about it. My purpose is that
too many children see parents go through it, and too
many

12
My Impact

My impact is that Rise Up will allow teens, children, and adults to get help.
I was impacted by this project because it showed me the need of education on
domestic violence, Rise Up impacted me by allowing me to hear stories from not
only me but others.
My communities and schools impact was it allowed people to see the need for
education, it also allowed people to see just how much it happens.
Rise Up impacted the women at the doves shelter because they have a resource
they didn’t have before and it allows them to have a choice.
Lastly it will impact the world by becoming accessible to everyone in need of
education and in need of help.
I know Rise Up will not fix the problem but it will minimize the problem.

expanding access to the app.

Having the website done

Having my website down while learning
to code and figuring out what needs to be
done before state. Also getting the
surveys sent out.
