Planning for theoretical problems

Problems I may encounter when How I plan to resolve these problems

researching and planning

1. Survey feedback could be limited 1. Send survey to a large amount of

people to give a higher chance of
getting more responses

2. Limited Information Sources (websites 2. If not enough information on websites,

to cross-reference) use books, magazines etc… to support them

Planning for practical and technical problems

Problems I may encounter when How I plan to resolve these problems
filming/editing

1. Actors fail to turn up 1. Have backup actors available

2. Camera battery dies 2. Have spare batteries available

3. Weather isn’t suitable to film in 3. Have multiple reshoot days planned

4. Footage corrupting 4. Before actors leave location backup

footage to a reliable storage device e.g.
SSD
5. No being able to produce VFX 5. I will make sure that there is a strong
narrative and relatable characters so
that the scenes can still flow without
them to allow for a high-quality
product with or without the effects.

Mid project check-up (After research)

After completing my research, I found that I had loads of online sources to collect information on
and used primary research to backup and support my findings. I had sufficient survey responses
due to the larger group of people I sent it out to and the simplistic format I gave it to make it quick
and easy to complete.

Since initially filling out the section above there has been many problems which have now
occurred due to problems across the world. The main problem is a Pandemic has occurred with
the coronavirus Covid-19. Especially effecting the practical side of the production. Quite recently
the Prime Minister put a lockdown into effect across the UK, preventing anyone from leaving their
house’s unless for food or once a day exercise. This therefore prevents me from going out to film
or audition actors for the character within my production. The lockdown is said to last 3 weeks
before being reviewed. Although this sounds manageable, it is uncertain whether it will be
extended after the 3 weeks and people most likely will still want to keep a distance from each
other and not be willing to allow me to film on their location or actors to come to film. As can
been seen, it is very unlikely that I will be able to film my production in time for the deadline set
out for the coursework. Therefore, the exam board are in talks to decide how the course will
progress. In the meantime, I have decided to carry on, planning out as much as possible to make
me as prepared as possible in the event that circumstances change to allow me to film.

Due to the lockdown, I am unable to go out and film auditions of actors. To combat this, I got the
actors to film themselves completing a set list of questions and send it over to me. This therefore
allowed me to get some auditions eventhough housebound. Furthermore, both locations that
were chosen as main and backup I have continued to analyse and prepare for in the event that
they become avalible at some point to film in, while keeping an eye on my actors’ schedules. This
is because I don’t know if I will be able to film, and if I do, I don’t know how big a window I will
have before the virus or something else will close that window. So, I have multiple contact details
of my actors and owners of locations so that the production can go ahead quickly. In addition, I
have all equipment needed prepared and charged. Ready to go.
