1. The difference between the engineer and the scientist is the engineer can not
select the problem which interest him, but the scientist can select the problem
which he likes. The engineer can not select the problem because he must solve
the problems as they arise.
2. Engineering is optimizing means that the engineer solution is the optimum
solution, the most desirable end result taking into account many factors. The
engineer solution may be the cheapest for a given perfomance, the mos reliable
for a given weight, the simplest for a given safety, and the most efficient for a
given cost.
3. Efficiency to the engineer means that output divided by input

a given output with a minimum input.
5. The statement “In fact, most engineering problems are answered ultimately in
