Chapter 44 The Adventist Home
Summary
As the mother nurses her child, the food that must be given is natural. As the mother
breastfeeds the infant, she must be in good condition. The mood and environment of the mother affects
the quality of food the child receives. Moreover, the attitude of the mother gives a strong influence over
the character of her child. Therefore, the she must be in a positive condition and should not allow her
negative emotions to overrule. In a peaceful environment the child would be able to develop holistically.
Another wrong habit of parents that should be corrcted is by giving their children food in order
for them to keep quiet and behave. This has proved to pose a danger to their health as they will be
accustomed to eating to much. The need should be met with a need and not substitute. The mother
must monitor her child's growth holistically including the needs and give attention to them immediately.
In preparing the food, the duration should be short and the food that should be served is
healthy and placed in an inviting manner.
The baby's clothes should be made in the principle of comfort above style. The mother should
not spend her time in making clothes that will impair her health.
