What is the corporate culture?
Corporate culture refers to the beliefs and behaviors that determine how a company’s
employees and management interact and handle outside business transactions. Often
corporate culture is implied, not expressly defined, and develops organically over time from
cumulative traits of the people the company hires. A company’s culture will be reflected in its
dress code, business hours, office setup, employee benefits, turnover, hiring decisions,
treatment of clients, client satisfaction, and every other aspect of operations.

Characteristics of an Organizational Culture:


Key characteristics of an organizational culture are as follows;

1. Innovation and risk taking: The degree to which employees are encouraged to be
innovative and take risks.
2. Attention to detail: The degree to which employees are expected to exhibit precision,
analysis, and attention to detail.
3. Outcome orientation: The degree to which management focuses on results or outcomes
rather than and technique and process.
4. People orientation: The degree to which management decision take into consideration
the effect of outcomes on people within the organization.
5. Team orientation: The degree to which work activities are organized around teams
rather than individuals.
6. Team orientation: The degree to which work activities are organized around teams
rather than individuals.
7. Aggressiveness: The degree to which people are aggressive and competitive than
easygoing.
8. Stability: The degree to which organizational activities emphasize maintaining the status
quo in contrast to growth.

Culture is a descriptive term, that is, it is not evaluative. Organizational culture is connected
how the characteristics of the company/organization are perceived-Not if they are liked or
disliked. It is not about job satisfaction.

Does the culture convey a sense of identity for employees?

Answer:
Yes, the culture conveys a sense of identity for employees. The culture of an organization
helps the member of organization to identify, to define “who they are” because the culture of
every organization is different from each other, being part of an organization it gives a sense
of identity to a member that is only shared by the people who belong to that organization.

Does culture helps generate employee’s commitment to something greater than


themselves?

Answer:
Yes, the culture helps generate employee’s commitment to something greater than
themselves as the strong culture of an organization motivates an individual to enhance their
skills, to prosper, and to compete with others in that way the in the long run it helps the
organization to prosper.

Does Culture adds to the stability of the organization as a social system?

Answer:
Most definitely yes, the culture does adds to the stability of the organization as a social
system. People learns to depend on their culture. It gives the stability and security, because
they can understand what is happening in their cultural community and knows how to
respond while in it. The culture is also an important source of stability and continuity of the
organization, which provides a sense of security to its members.

Answer:
Yes, culture serves as a frame of reference for employees to use to make sense out of
organization’s activities and use as guide for appropriate behavior e.g. dress code, how to
talk, etc.

Answer:
They are the ones who make everyone comply with an organizations culture so Yes they do
agree on the culture.

Is there a common culture?

Answer:
Yes, there is a common culture across the organization. For socialization day outs are planned
and different events are organized which helps socialization within the organization. Events
are also organized to socialize with people outside organization.

Answer:
Society’s culture is embedded in organization’s culture as the organization operates within
that society. Organizational culture refers to the norms, shared values, and expectations that
determine the governing of a certain organization. It actually describes the manner in which
people interacts as well as approach the work. Societal culture defines the norms,
expectations, and shared values of a society or a group of people living in a particular place
governing them.

Your assessment of the overall value of the culture to the university or organization?

Answer:
My assessment is that the Culture defines an organization. Culture creates the foundation for
strategy and will either be organization’s greatest asset or largest liability. While culture has
many aspects and manifestations, its core should include a clear sense of purpose and shared
values that guide decision making across the organization.

Answer:
For me the strong culture of an organization is act as its greatest strength. If there is no
defined culture in an organization, one will develop its own without traits that you desire. By
choosing a organization culture it can become a strength for your organization, you build
expectations of a strong future among employees.

Answer:
Bureaucratic structures often hinder in change however open culture supports change.

Answer:
Yes, I think corporate culture is a strategic factor in terms of its impact on the long-term
performance of an organization. Once the culture is set it gets very difficult to change it, so,
the organizations needs to create nice and strong culture so that it gives ultimate benefit in the
long-run to an organization.

Answer:
In our organization, I do not want any change for now as it is doing great for our organization
and employees.

Answer:
Yes, there is a common culture across the organization. The organization plans different
events for different departments of organizations and also for whole organization to socialize
to staff, to develop oneness, remove social distances and also learn from one another.

There is a direct relation between the organization’s culture and society’s culture. The
organization’s culture will be almost as same as the culture of the society because the

In my assessment the organization is recognized and build up its name in the market if it has
a strong culture without culture there is discipline in the operations of organization, so culture
has a great value to the organization.
