PLANT OPERATION

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course covers the fundamental knowledge of startup and shutdown of all the
major unit operations present in chemical process industries with their operational,
construction, maintenance and working aspects. Various units of Heat transfer,
Mass transfer and Mechanical operations like Distillation column, Absorption
column, different reactors, size reduction equipments, flow controlling devices,
heat transfer equipments, filters etc. are covered in this course. This course also
covers the troubleshooting during various plant emergency conditions like pump
failure, DM water failure etc. Fundamental understanding of commissioning
activities and record keeping in chemical process are also the part of this course.

COURSE OUTCOMES
Students can get fundamental knowledge of working and operational aspects of
major units present in chemical industry with troubleshooting activities during the
plant emergency.
