Learning objectives is a way to establish and articulate academic


expectations for students so they know precisely what is expected of
them.
Los objetivos de aprendizaje establecen y articulan las
expectativas académicas. Así los estudiantes podrán saber
exactamente lo que se espera de ellos.

ENGLISH
English Usage
 Learn an increasingly wide range of vocabulary appropriate to their
needs.
 Explain, using accurate terminology, how language is used to create
effect, e.g. personification, figurative language, imagery, patterns and
structure in the use of language, use of dialect or informal language.
 Begin to use formal and informal language for specific purposes.
 Demonstrate controlled use of a variety of simple and complex
sentences to achieve purpose and contribute to overall effect.

Reading
 Explore the range, variety and overall effect of literary, rhetorical and
grammatical features used by poets and writers of literary and non-
literary texts. Include study of informal or formal style as well as the
choice of words to create character.
 Comment on how the writer’s use of language contributes to the overall
effect on the reader, using appropriate terminology.

 Broaden their experience of reading a wide range of texts and express
their preferences and opinions.
 Explore why certain texts are important within a culture and show
awareness that the context in which the text is written and read affects
its meaning.

Writing
 Identify the most appropriate approach to planning their writing in order
to explore, connect and shape ideas.

 Identifica en los textos poéticos el concepto de subjetividad y
connotación enmarcados en la emoción.
 Distingue al interior de los poemas los elementos que enmarcan la

 Analiza el propósito comunicativo de la oración teniendo en cuenta la
clase de verbo que aparece en ésta.
 Adapta de modo creativo algunas obras poéticas vinculando eventos

 Estudia la forma en que se encuentran escritos los textos poéticos.

 Analiza las ventajas y las desventajas en términos de información y

MATHEMATICS
Numeracy, variation and Problem Solving

 Properly use the properties of exponents and the order of operations to


be applied in mathematical contexts as well as in other sciences and
real-life situations.
 Use the concept of percent to extend it to daily situations involving
percent increase or decrease applications such as taxes, simple interest,
tips, commissions and discounts.
 Use multi-step equations involving variables and the distributive property
on both sides in order to find the solution to word problems as part of
problem-solving skills.

Geometry, measurement and Problem Solving
 Accurately find the area of two and three-dimensional figures starting
from basic constructions using instruments, a coordinate plane and
material manipulation as well as the features of such shapes.

Handling Data and Problem Solving
 Properly count and display all the possible outcomes of simple and
compound real-world situations in simulated scenarios in the classroom.

 Understand the different types of language used for programming in
common everyday softwares.

STRAND 2: Critical thinking and creativity


 Create and run different programs using an specific programming
language for different contexts and specifications.

 Use programming language in a proper way to create and develop
specific purpose softwares.

STRAND 1 SCIENTIFIC ENQUIRY
 Discuss the importance of developing scientific questions, collecting
evidence, testing predictions, developing explanations and using
creative thinking.
 Select testable ideas, plan investigations, identify important variables,
and make predictions using scientific knowledge.
 Take appropriately accurate measurements; use equipment correctly;
discuss and control risk; present results as appropriate in tables and
graphs.
 Make simple calculations; identify trends and patterns in results;
compare results with predictions; identify anomalous results and suggest

translation to proteins using the Genetic Code

of enzymes as biological catalysts in breaking down food to simple
chemicals.
 Recognize the organs and functions of the alimentary canal; understand
the relationship between diet, fitness and the effects of nutritional
deficiencies.

STRAND # 1/: Relaciones con la historia y las culturas

 Identifica la división política y las regiones en cada uno de los


continentes del mundo.
 Analiza los aspectos políticos, culturales, históricos y demográficos que
diferencian a las diferentes regiones del mundo entre sí.
 Explica relaciones causales entre hechos políticos, económicos y
sociales.

use of the elements of dance (space, time and energy)
 Execute clearly proposed stagings, working in team and coordinating
