Guidelines for Parents:
1. Please read and understand the comprehensive guidelines/ instructions
given in the Concept Paper for the Online Support Program

2. The weekly work assigned will be split over the week days according to
the timetable set by parents.

3. Parents will monitor and supervise their ward’s work.

4. Any videos/ research work suggested in the assignments will be strictly


monitored by parents.

5. Written work to be done on loose sheets with clear mention of Student’s


name, class/section, subject/topic and date.

Reading Heidi: Title pg & Picture words on pg 4, 5.
Heidi  Tell your child some of the reading rules in general:
 Model reading by the parents first, Child reads, use phonics
sound or syllables for correct pronunciation, use
bookmarks, avoid writing anything on the book.
 Write the rules on a paper and keep it in child’s room.
 Look at the title pg & Picture words on pg 4, 5.
 Let the child describe what he/she can see. Who are the
characters? Learn the ten picture words. Take dictation
during the week (five words per day or twice a week).
 Show them the video of the story on the given in your
presence. Pause the video in between the scenes to ask

 Encourage them to read a page of any other story book
every day before going to bed.

Working together  Explain to your child what the title of unit means. Explain to
them the importance of working together.
 Task them to work together to clean their room & note time
how quickly work can be done in this way.
 Similarly, clothes can be arranged in a cupboard the next
day with the motto - working together.
 Child can write a few lines after this activity.

Guidelines for Lesson 1: Counting to 10 000 (Textbook pgs 1-5, Workbook
Parents pgs 1-2)
1. Show the following videos to your child to help understand
the concept of counting to 10 000:

2. Discuss & explain pgs 1-4 and help your child to count to
10 000. Let them practice counting in 1000s e.g. 1000, 2000,
3000,…,10 000.

3. Give your child a number from which they have to count on


from e.g. 4665 the child will count on in sequence 4666,
4667, 4668 etc.
4. Discuss orally pg 5 Practice, let the child give the numbers.
Lesson 2: Place Value ((Textbook pgs 6-8, Workbook pgs 3-8)
1. Show the following videos to your child to help understand
the concept of place values:

2. Discuss & explain pgs 6-7 and help your child to read &
write numbers up to 10 000 in numerals and in words and
tell the value of a digit in a number. Point out the value of a
digit in the different places. Let the students read the
numbers in full.
3. Written Work. Do not ask the child to write on the
workbooks. All work is to be done on loose square sheets
(children must not draw the pictures they should only write
sum and the answer). Go over and let your child do:
 Textbook pg 8 Practice Qs 1-2.
 Workbook pgs 1-2
 Workbook pgs 3-8
 Writing number words one thousand to ten thousand
