Spanish Country Bookmark project

Due date:

For this assignment, each student will create a bookmark presenting important
facts about a Spanish speaking country or region. That is, where Spanish is the
official language.

This bookmark will state the name of the country or region in Spanish and will list
four facts (in English) on each side of the book mark, accompanied by a picture.

Visuals: 40% percent of grade.

On one side of the bookmark, the visual must be the flag or a map of the country
or region. The other visual should be an image of your choice that portrays
something important about the culture or history of the region. You may use
hand-drawn or traced maps or flags, or you may use photocopied maps or flags
that you cut out and color. You may add other decorations to enhance the
appearance of your bookmark, but they should not crowd out the fact list. Use
your visuals to add color to your work.

List of facts: 60% percent of grade.

All information should be neatly printed or typed.

You must include the following six facts somewhere on the bookmark:

Location, population, capital city, climate, languages spoken, main industries.

You will also choose from the following list for two more facts:

main imports/exports, other major cities, important geographical features, type

of government.

Facts:

A – Eight facts are listed with six of them from the required list. Information is
accurate and neatly presented

B – Student has six or seven facts, no required items missing; there may be some
inaccuracies in the information presented. Work may not be neatly written.

C – Student has five or fewer facts and/or completely inaccurate information

listed. Work may be difficult to read.

Visuals:

A – The bookmark displays the name of the country/region in Spanish; the

required map or flag is one of the two visuals; the other visual communicates
something important about the country/region; the final product is neat and
colorful.

B/C – One of the visuals is missing or the student does not include the required
flag or map. Work may be sloppy or lacking in color or visual appeal.
