Developing Basic Teaching Competencies
Induction Phase-I
Syndicate Tasks

Dear Colleague,

This Induction Programme aim at developing basic teaching skills including


those of preparation and use of simple instructional media among the newly recruited
technical teachers of technical institutes. At the same time this programme also aims at
developing professionalism in the practicing teachers including right values and
desirable attitudes.

In view of the above, the programme has been designed and developed by
incorporating structured syndicate tasks/group/individual assignments to accomplish
competencies by the teacher. You are requested to undertake all the syndicate tasks with
lot of interest and vigour. The output of all the tasks may please be submitted to Course
Coordinator for evaluation and certification.

Syndicate Task I: Content Analysis


Identify a topic of subject/course of your discipline. You are required to carry out a
detailed analysis of the content on format given below:
i) Name of subject
ii) Discipline
iii) Year/Semester
iv) Topic
v) Learning outcome
vi) Concepts
vii) Concept Attributes
viii) Principles
ix) Applications
x) Procedure
xi) Skills

Syndicate Task II: Instructional Objectives


a) Write at least two General Objective and Set of related four to five Specific
Objectives of the identified topic/subject.
b) Formulate at least 3 Specific Objectives related to your topic including condition
and criteria of acceptable performance.
c) Write at least three instructional objectives in Cognitive Domain, Psychomotor
Domain and Affective Domain.
d) Formulate at least 03 set of Specific Objectives related to one General Objective
on same topic in the knowledge, Comprehension and Application level of
Cognitive Domain.

Syndicate Task III: Developing a Demonstration Plan


You are requested to prepare a demonstration plan for 15 minutes duration on any
identified subject/area from your discipline. The demonstration plan may be prepared in
the format suggested.

Syndicate Task IV: Students Assessment


Prepare short/oral question and their expected responses/answers (at least 10 on a
identified topic to be dealt by you in teaching practice.

Syndicate Task V: Instructional Media


Prepare OHP Transparencies of a identified topic to be dealt by you in teaching practice
a) Single sheet transparency
- One pertaining to subject, topic, General Objective & Specific Objectives of
your Instructional Session Plan
- Two pertaining to still picture/Diagram/Graphic of Internal Details etc.
b) Overlay sheet transparency
- Three to four overlay including basic sheet describing assembly, dis-
assembly, dis-closure of internal structure, minor movements, static to
dynamic etc.

Syndicate Task VI: Instructional Session Plan


Prepare Instruction Session Plan (Duration 15-20 minutes) of a identified micro topic to
be dealt by you in teaching practice using all teaching technology, methods and media.

Note:1. All the activities under each one the tasks mentioned above will be undertaken by
the participants individually. It would be necessary for each participant to get
these activities validated by the peer group as well as the concerned faculty
members on a continuous basis at different stages. It is also necessary to have a
rehearsal of the experience sharing presentation at home in the presence of peer
group, before you conduct actual presentation in presence of large group and
faculty members.
2. Kindly ensure the Syndicate Task outputs are fairly written by you after it is
validated by concerned faculty and submit the final Mini Project to the
Coordinator.
