Off-Campus Paid Opportunities

Federal Work-Study Eligible Students


Develop Your Own (DYO) Summer Internship Program
Students find or develop a paid, career-related internship off-campus with a non-profit or small
business. Employers receive a partial reimbursement (50-75%) of hourly wages.
New York City Public Service Corps (NYCPSC)
Students are assigned to work with a city department in one of the five boroughs of New York.
There is an agency that assists with matching students with opportunities.
Community Work Study Program (CWSP)
Connects FWS eligible students with non-profit or community service employers in the Ithaca and
Tompkins County area. Coordinated by the Cornell Public Service Center.

Cornell's Urban Semester Program
Option for an 8-week summer program in New York City that includes four-day internships plus
seminars in multicultural and professional practice once each week. This is open to Cornell junior
and senior undergraduate students from any college.
Project ION
Offers a variety of summer internships in Upstate New York to students from participating colleges
and universities in the region.
Summer on the Cuyahoga (SOTC)
Provides an immersive experience in the Cleveland, OH area. Students are a part of challenging
internships, community introductions, alumni connections, and group housing for the summer.
Current sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible.
Cornell in Washington's Summer in Washington Program
Offers an opportunity to earn credits, complete an internship, and explore the city. Normally,
students participate in their junior year, or during the first semester of their senior year.
Cornell in Hollywood
Offers a number of film-related internships specifically for Cornell students thanks to Cornell
alumni currently working in the film industry and the Cornell Club of Los Angeles.

Cornell's Entrepreneurship at Cornell Summer Internship Program


10-week internship program for students interested in gaining first-hand experience working for
entrepreneurial companies. While preference is given to juniors, seniors, and first year MBA
students, sophomores are also welcome to apply.
The Janet McKinley '74 Family Grant
Assists students in pursuing interesting, provocative, and entrepreneurial summer projects. Open to
all Cornell sophomores.
Cornell Botanical Gardens Internship Program
Internships in botanical collections, natural areas research, the wildflower garden, and education.
Cornell's Shoals Marine Laboratory
Unique opportunities for students to experience marine science through summer research
internships and employment (in addition to summer courses) on Appledore Island, in the Gulf of
Maine. All years and majors are welcome to apply.

Atkinson Center Summer Internships for a Sustainable Future


Cornell students can apply for paid internships with environmental advocacy groups, such as the
Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and Oceana. The interns work on cutting-edge sustainability
issues in vibrant workplaces to gain subject matter expertise and workplace skills. Supported by
generous alumni: David and Pat Atkinson and Jill and Ken Iscol.
