Frequently Asked Questions (“FAQ”)

Q: Am I eligible to apply for the workshop?


A: MEDS is a truly international workshop, attracting a diverse range of people from more
than 40 countries in 2018. The majority of participants are designers (interior, product,
industrial, graphic), architects, civil engineers, currently studying at undergraduate and
postgraduate levels, alongside a number of professionals from different a backgrounds
attend the workshop and the result is also very interesting.

Q: What if my country is not listed on the google form?


A: If your country is not listed on the google form, you can apply with the International
Team.

Q: What is the cancellation policy for the workshop?


A: If you are selected as a participant and you have already paid your registration is non-
refundable.

All cancellations must be sent in writing via e-mail to the organizing team. Please e-mail
cancellations, if possible, and expect confirmation within three (3) business days.

MEDS is not responsible for problems beyond our control such as weather conditions,
campus conditions, travel difficulties, visa problems, health issues, etc. No refunds will
be given in these situations if occurring after the confirmation of participants.

Q: What happens if I cancel my participation for the workshop and I have already paid?
A: If you are selected as a participant and you had already paid there is no refund.

Q: I am under 18 years old. Can I apply?


A: Unfortunately, we’re unable to accept students under the age of 18.

Q: Is there funding available to help with travel/participation costs?


A: MEDS is unable to assist with travel or registration costs.

Q: Can I pay some days later?


A: Unfortunately no, you cannot pay later. The specific deadline will be realized after the
selection, nevertheless, take consideration that it will be late April. In case you haven’t
paid, you will get rejected and another person from the waiting list will be informed.

Q: What if there is a problem with the bank or with the payment transfer?
A: In case of delay due to bank problems you will need to inform us as soon as possible.
Q: How much is the participation fee and what is included?
A: The Participation fee for MEDS 2019 has been set to 290,00€ and includes:
• Your accommodation for the whole duration of the workshop (namely check in 26th
of July 2019 and check out 12 August 2019) which is located in the workshop’s
main venue.
• The workshop’s materials that you will participate
• Free WI-FI access
• Breakfastand dinner (according to the preference that you have selected)
• Badges and other personalized material (such as T-shirt, bag).

Q: What happens if I get selected and I cannot attend the workshop before the
deadline of payment?
A: If you are unable to attend the workshop before the deadline of payment expires,
you have to inform us as soon as possible in writing via e-mail to:

Q: When will the projects of the workshop get published?


A: Projects of the workshop will be published early in March.

Q: How can I apply for the workshop?


A: In order to apply for the workshop, you need to download the theme pack that can be
found on our website or by clicking here. According to the topic of the workshop (that
it is MemNiso) you are requested to create a design (poster, collage, photos, video of
maximum duration 1:00 min.) or whatever it is better to express the above topic.

Please note that it is very important to download the template that can be found
under the participant section on the website or by clicking here. If you do not use theis
template then your application will be rejected. After that, you need to fill in the google
form and you are done.

Q: When can I apply for the workshop?


A: Application process will start on March 1st, 2019 and will remain open until March
31st , 2019.

Q: What if I apply without using the template?


A: Using the template is mandatory. If you do not use the template unfortunately your
application will be rejected.

Q: What happens if my project is a video? Can I apply with that format?


A: Yes, of course, you can apply with a video just make sure that the maximum duration
shall be 1:00 min. Videos more than 1:00 min will be rejected.
Q: What are the formats that I can upload my project?
A: The formats that you can use for uploading are PDF, all the formats for photos, videos,
and sound.

Q: What happens if I realize that I have not used the template and the participant call
is still open?
A: You can still apply by submitting the same application with the right template

Q: How do I get selected to a project?


A: The first day of the workshop, namely on 27/07/2019 a presentation of the workshops
will take place by the tutors. After the presentations, you will be asked to fill in a google
form and by an algorithm, you will be randomly allocated into teams.

Q: What if I arrive and I want to attend the workshop only for 1 week?
A: You will need to let us know by sending email to the Organizing Team. However, we
cannot offer any discount to the participation fee.

Q: What is the schedule during the workshop?


A: More information about the daily timetable will be uploaded after the selection of
participants. A general plan is, breakfast, working hours, lunch break, working hours,
dinner, chilling area/lecture.

Q: What are the workshop hours?


A: Given that the detailed timetable has not yer been finalized keep in mind that the
workshop hours are approximately 8-10 hours per day.

Q: Will I receive a certificate of attendance?


A: Yes, all participants will receive a “Certificate of Attendance” which can be used
towards your professional development.

Q: What services are available for special needs and requests?


A: MEDS encourages persons with disabilities to participate in their programs and
activities. Please contact participantsmemniso@gmail.com no later than 31/3/2019 in
order to evaluate your application with regard to viability of participation due to the
physical nature of the activities during the workshop. If you have dietary preferences,
please be sure to mark those on the space provided on the registration form when you
apply.

Q: Is the workshop schedule available?


A: Details will be posted on our website as they are confirmed. A full workshop schedule,
including conference sessions, will be available on our website in late in March.
