 Asking about the locations


A : Excuse me, where can i find a shop around here?
B : The shop’s near the entrance, on the right of reception.
A: Thank you.
B: You are welcome

C : Excuse me, can you tell me where the toilets are?


D : The toilets are at the bottom of the stairs, on the left.
C: Thank you.
D: You are welcome

E : Excuse me, how do I get to the coffee bar from here?


F : Go through the swing doors, turn left along the corridor, and the coffee bar’s
in front of you.
E: Thank you.
F: You are welcome

G : Excuse me, I am looking for the Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat?
H : Walk along the corridor until the end, then turn left, the ENT Dept. is on the
left.
G: Thank you.
H: You are welcome

 Telling about locations / describing where something is, we use PREPOSITIONS, such as:
 In * on * at the top of / bottom of
 on top of * inside / outside * near / next to
 by * in front of * behind
 opposite * under * over
 at * on the left / right

 Giving directions / Talking about movement, we use PREPOSITIONS such as:


o up * down * into
o out of * away * from
o to * through * across
o back to * around * left / right

 Prepositions of movement are used with the verbs:


 Go * come * take
 Push * carry * walk
 cross
