REACTION PAPER : the difference between GRI G4 and GRI standards

Based on our group discussions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is an

independent international standards organization. GRI in addition to helping business people
also helps governments and other organizations to understand and communicate business
problems in the issues of climate change, human rights, and corruption. GRI Standard has
released a new standard, the difference is that the main difference is the structure. So now
instead of displaying them all in one guide line bundle, we separate them in individual
standards like a modular structure. It will be easier for us to update individual standards, even
add new standards when new topics become relevant in the area of sustainability. And also
makes it easier for journalists to use and refer them.

GRI is not expected to change the format of documents again in the future. The GRI
will then focus on developing indicators or disclosure dynamically. The current GRI format is
to support companies to develop variations to support sustainability. On the other hand, GRI
also provides "sector disclosures", which are specific guidelines for certain industry sectors,
so that "comparability" or comparability between sustainability reports can be made,
specifically those that are relevant to the same industry sector.
