DEBRIEFING
 CONCLUSIONS
Debriefing is a critical part of any experiment or psychologycal study that
involves human participants. This procedure is conducted after the experiment or
study has been concluded. Debriefing involves a structured of semi-structured verbal
conversations between the reseacher and the subjects whereby an array of topics are
adressed and discussed, and the subjects are given an oppotuny to ask questions.
There are multiple components of the debriefing process. This thesis has revealed the
problematic nature of psychologist currrents understandings of debriefing; it is clear
then is still more to be done. Empirical reseach is needed to determine how best
include a fuller picture of debriefing in psychology ethics codes. (that is, an explicit
definitions of what debriefing is , and if defined by its purposes a comprehensive list
of purposes must be presented). Lastly, if debriefing is found to be emprically
effective and deemed a reqruired element for some or all of psychology reseach
investigators must be held accountable for properly debriefing their participants.
Benefit of this method is help organize thoughts and screening to see who needs
further assistance.
