BASIC sIDE WEAVE

It is the simplest and most common of the basic textile weave. It is made by passing each filling yarns
over and under each warp yarns with each row alternating producing high no. of intersection.

Characteristics

It requires only two harnesses

Each warp yarn passes alternatively one and under one filling yarns

Plain weave fabric has form construction.

They tend to wear well and reveal less.

It offers good background for printing and embosses design.

It wrinkles more.

It is having no surface interest.

Tearing strength of plain fabric is low.

A plain woven fabric has less observance.


SATIN WEAVE

In true satin weave there is one interlace for each warp yarn and only interlace each repeat of the
weave.

5 is the lowest possible no. of harness usable for a regular satin weave.

It is smooth and lectures.

Satin woven fabrics drape well.

It has two categories :

Warp face satin weave

Weft/filling face satin weave

Eg. Satin, Damask, Brocade etc.


TWILL WEAVE

Weave produces diagonal lines on the fabrics.

Simplest is a two-by-one (i.e @up and 1 down) or one by two (i.e 1 up and 2 down) which repeat on 3
end and 3 picks.

Its twill weaving.

There are two types of twill

Right hand twill

Left hand twill
